State Resource Centre for Women, Nagaland

The State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) is the implementing agency of the National Mission for Empowerment of Women (NMEW). The recently established centre is functioning under the aegis of the Nagaland State Social Welfare Board, Kohima. The SRCW provides institutional support to implement the activities of the mission in the state. The focus is to facilitate government and other stakeholders involved in women centric issues so as to implement gender sensitive programs, laws and schemes through effectual coordination. Convergence is therefore the key SRCW strategy.
The primary objective of the SRCW is to work for holistic empowerment of women in the state cutting across multiple sectors. It will facilitate government and other stakeholders involved in women empowerment issues to implement gender sensitive programmes, laws and schemes through effective coordination. SRCW will regularly review and evaluate existing policies, programmes and legislations impacting women and bring suitable recommendations before the State Mission Authority (SMA) and National Resource Centre for Women (NRCW) for suitable measures. It will work for convergence of women centric programmes/schemes of various central and state governments and Gender mainstreaming of government programmes to make gender concerns integral to the planning process. SRCW shall create an environment through awareness generation to fuel demand by women for schemes/programmes and facilitate the process through which the gap between demand and supply can be reduced.

This centre has a State Mission Authority (SMA) at the apex level under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Nagaland.
