SRCW Nagaland and the Adolescent Girls Club (AGC)

SRCW- Nagaland has been closely working with the Adolescent Girls Club (AGC), an initiative of the Nagaland State Social Welfare Board (NSSWB).

The AGC’s All Girls Pipe Band was approached by the Organising Committee of the 50th Year Statehood Celebration of Nagaland cum Hornbill Festival, to participate at the Inaugural Function on 1st December, 2013 at Kisama Heritage Village, Kohima. The SRCW team together assisted the AGC girls in the process of their practice and on their day of performance. The AGC performed brilliantly along with the Assam Rifles Pipe Band in the presence of Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the Hon’ble President of India and other dignitaries. It was a proud moment as they performed, and later received numerous positive comments from the spectators.

This was also an opportunity for exposure as the girls had the chance to witness for themselves various events and activities that involved people not only from India but also from all over the world. It was also educational for the AGC girls, particularly in terms of seeing and observing various traditional and cultural practices of the many participating Naga tribes as well as non-Nagas at the event, and a huge source of encouragement and motivation as well.
